October
So what has happened since the September edition?
Well firstly this is meant to be the October newsletter, but because we also had the NCS AGM, I thought I would combine the two, smart thinking if you ask me!!

The AGM was held on Saturday 1st November at the lighthouse in Weaverham. It was a well attended event with volunteers from all three hubs in attendance. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and for questions that were asked. I will summarise the key points from the meeting:
-
The trustee structure has largely stayed the same, except for Vanessa from Weaverham decided not to reapply. So as it stands I remain the Chairman; Brian is my number 1 as well as the assistant Treasurer and a temporary Secretary; Paul remains the Treasurer; Jen in charge of Sure Store and freezers; Lynn our trustee with links as a Councillor to Cheshire West; Chris our most recent trustee who bring a wealth of experience being on other boards.
-
Comments were raised and addressed regarding the ongoing situation with receiving less from the supermarkets. This is a situation which we have very little control over, however we are actively speaking to the supermarkets.
-
The NCS van was discussed and we were asked if we are still looking to replace it? This was discussed at length other the past 6-12 months and we can categorically say we have no plans to replace or get rid of it.

About a year ago, one of our volunteers known only as ‘Super Kevin’, put NCS forward for Mid-Cheshire Bowling League’s charity. What does this mean I hear you shout?! Mid Cheshire Bowling League is made up of 35 clubs who each will be given a money box. Each time they play, they are encouraged to make a donation. Donations this year came to a massive £1,000! A massive thank you to all the players at Mid Cheshire Bowling League..... and of course Kevin!

We also had a change to the NCS constitution. For those that may not be aware ,the constitution of any organisation is its founding principles and how you intend to operate, which can only be changed at the AGM. This change was regarding the removal of volunteer names from our members list that have not volunteered in the last 6 months. It enables us to make sure we are up to date and compliant.

So what is in store for the future of NCS? Well, to begin with we will carry on supporting the community as we have done. The trustees are in a good place and so in NCS financially. We continue to receive requests from people wishing to volunteer, which is great! Probably next year we will be looking to restart a fundraising committee, so if anyone is interested, let us know.

That’s all for this issue, but if you have any questions you would like us to go over at the next meeting, please email me at chairman.ncs1@gmail.com.
